Chris Blanco and Titus Schrecengost made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Blanco tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Schrecengost pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Blanco is becoming a predictor of Standley Lake's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-2 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). At bat, Blanco went 4-for-5 with one home run and three RBI, while Schrecengost went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Blanco has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Carter Casias was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Marc Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Conifer didn't have quite enough to beat Dakota Ridge on Tuesday and fell 7-6. The Lobos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Luke Adams was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Dillon Tracy, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Standley Lake's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8. As for Conifer, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Standley Lake was able to grind out a solid victory over Conifer when the teams last played back in March, winning 4-1. Will the Gators repeat their success, or do the Lobos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
