Baseball Recap: Fowler Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

Fowler came out on top against Pewamo-Westphalia on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Eagles skirted past the Pirates 7-6. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 victory the Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Sam Vanneste made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fowler is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise. Vanneste was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Noah Schafer was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Ben Kohagen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Fowler kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pewamo-Westphalia only managed six hits.

Fowler's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Pewamo-Westphalia, their record now sits at 13-11.

Fowler will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair will be back at it again later today.
