Alleghany triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Sarah Bare

Recap: Alleghany Trojans vs. Grayson County Blue Devils

The Alleghany Trojans's 34-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Tuesday. They walked away with a 55-47 victory over Grayson County. Alleghany's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Among those leading the charge was Sarah Bare, who scored 21 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Paula Martinez, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Alleghany's win ended a 19-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-10. As for Grayson County, they bumped their record down to 5-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alleghany has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome North Stokes at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th. Grayson County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Auburn at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd.
