Baseball Game Preview: Lockport Porters vs. Metea Valley Mustangs

The Lockport Porters will challenge the Metea Valley Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Lockport blew Marist out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Marist got their revenge. The Porters fell just short of the RedHawks by a score of 9-7.

Drew Satunas and Adam Kozak did some serious damage despite the final result: Satunas went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Kozak went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Bryce Flood was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Metea Valley rose to the challenge on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Tomcats. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Lockport has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 22-13 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Metea Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 13-22.

Lockport beat Metea Valley 10-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Porters repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
