Basketball Recap: Hammon Warriors vs. Edmond Memorial Bulldogs

Hammon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 70-53 bruising from the Edmond Memorial Bulldogs.

Edmond Memorial's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janiyah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. What's more, Williams also racked up five assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Avery Hjelmstad, who posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Hammon's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Edmond Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Hammon and Edmond Memorial should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings. Hammon (ranked 43rd) will meet Vici (ranked 401st) at 10:00 a.m. on January 9th. Meanwhile, Edmond Memorial (ranked 27th) will meet Edmond Santa Fe (ranked 231st) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
