Soccer Game Preview: George C. Marshall vs. Langley

The George C. Marshall Statesmen will square off against the Langley Saxons at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for George C. Marshall: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Langley has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

George C. Marshall fell victim to Washington-Liberty and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Generals by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Langley hadn't done well against Yorktown recently (they were 0-8-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Saxons won by a goal and slipped past the Patriots 4-3. The score was all tied up 2-2 at the break, but Langley were the better team in the second half.

They hit Yorktown with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Holly Murphy (2), Jodie Jenkins, and Corinne Fisher.

Langley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for George C. Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5-1.

George C. Marshall came out on top in a nail-biter against Langley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Statesmen repeat their success, or do the Saxons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
