Basketball Recap: Dime Box Gets the Win

If Buckholts wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Dime Box, they should've done a better job of containing Ta'Niyah Auston. The Dime Box Longhorns walked away with a 44-34 win over the Buckholts Badgers on Tuesday thanks in part to Auston, who posted 21 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Dime Box's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Tyreka Patterson, who earned ten points. Those ten points gave her a new career-high.

Buckholts' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caylee Velez, who had 15 points. Velez is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Izabella Ramirez, who posted 11 points.

The victory got Dime Box back to even at 2-2. As for Buckholts, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Dime Box didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-14 defeat against Troy on the 5th. As for Buckholts, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 54-6 loss against Austin Royals HomeSchool on the 5th.
