Football Recap: Fletcher Senators vs. Mandarin Mustangs
Fletcher lost against Mandarin back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Senators fell 22-13 to the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Senators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Mustangs are ranked 25th).
Several Senators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ja'Mez Williams, who rushed for 131 yards. Joshua Jones was in the mix too, providing Fletcher with two scores.
While Fletcher came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Mandarin: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 46.7%. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for the Senators; they were averaging 63.4%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three matchups they've fallen to only 63.4%.
Shaunqueze Foster was his usual excellent self, rushing for 124 yards and one touchdown for Mandarin. That's the most rushing yards Foster has posted since back in October of 2024.
The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 5-3. As for Mandarin, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.
Fletcher and Mandarin will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Senators see the field they'll take on First Coast at 6:30 p.m. on the 24th. As for Mandarin, their break will end when they face Oakleaf at 6:30 p.m. on the 24th.
