Volleyball Recap: Kewanee Falls Short of Princeton in the Playoffs

Kewanee and Princeton squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Kewanee had to settle for second. They fell 2-0 to the Tigers. The Boilermakers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Kewanee was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-14.

Macee Pickering paced Kewanee's offense, picking up five kills. Pickering got some help from Kendyl Deblieck and her eight assists. Finally, Damaris Diaz kept Kewanee's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Princeton was led to victory by Ava Kyle and Camryn Driscoll. Kyle had 11 digs and one assist, while Driscoll had 12 digs and one assist. Those 11 digs gave Kyle a new career-high.

Kewanee's defeat dropped their record down to 16-16-1. As for Princeton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-14 record this season.

Kewanee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Princeton, they will square off against Newman Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
