Soccer Recap: St. Pius X Comes Up Short

If St. Pius X was feeling good fresh off their 5-0 takedown of Savio last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Central Catholic Buttons who were credited with the victory on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 59th in Texas, while the Buttons are ranked ninth in Texas).

St. Pius X's goal came courtesy of Joshua Velasquez, who's now up to two this season.

St. Pius X's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-3. As for Central Catholic, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.

St. Pius X does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central Catholic, they will take on St. Thomas Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. St. Thomas Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.4 goals per game this season.
