Basketball Recap: Mater Brickell Academy Takes a Loss

Mater Brickell Academy lost against Mater Academy Charter back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Bulls were outmatched by the Lions and fell 70-12. The matchup marked the Bulls' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Mater Brickell Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Dilan Pulido posted four points.

Jahi Lopez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mater Academy Charter, going 7-for-9 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. What's more, Lopez also posted a 78% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was James Miles, who shot 70% from the field to rack up 15 points and five boards.

Mater Brickell Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Mater Academy Charter, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2.

Mater Brickell Academy has already played their next contest, a 73-67 loss against Immaculata-La Salle on the 5th. As for Mater Academy Charter, they will square off against Florida Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
