Baseball Recap: Virginia Episcopal School Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Virginia Episcopal School dropped their record down to 11-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the North Cross Raiders by a score of 4-3. Bishops fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Raiders since on Tuesday.

Nash Watson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Virginia Episcopal School saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Godsie, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

As for North Cross, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

On North Cross' side, Hanchen Ou and Tristan Lange made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Ou didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Lange tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ou has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Ou went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Lange went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That home run was Ou's first of the season.

In other batting news, Ryan Thomas was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Virginia Episcopal School will take on Nansemond-Suffolk Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Cross, they will face off against Miller School of Albemarle at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
