Baseball Game Preview: Carroll County Cavaliers vs. Alleghany Cougars

The Carroll County Cavaliers will head out on the road to square off against the Alleghany Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Carroll County has ten straight victories, Alleghany has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Carroll County got the win against Radford by a conclusive 12-2. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Alleghany fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Floyd County on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Buffaloes by a score of 3-2.

Carroll County's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Alleghany, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Carroll County skirted past Alleghany 3-2 in their previous meeting on April 4th. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
