Football Recap: Elijah Ordis and Gabe Escalera Pace Destin Defense

Destin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Chipley Tigers, falling 31-6. If the Sharks were looking for revenge after losing 26-21 to the Tigers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Destin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Elijah Ordis and Gabe Escalera. With that strong performance, Ordis is now averaging an impressive 5.3 total tackles per game. Destin got some further help from Brody Hipp: he made 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Destin's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Chipley, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Destin will welcome Booker T. Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Junior Harris and Da'Sean Bohanan. As for Chipley, they will head out to take on Jefferson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chipley will be up against Jefferson County's rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.63 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
