Basketball Recap: Jayda Martinez Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Legacy Charter

Discovery's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 35-28 win over the Legacy Charter Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-23 back in December of 2024.

Discovery's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayda Martinez, who posted ten points. The dominant performance gave Martinez a new career-high in points. Ralana Spence was another key player, putting up seven points.

Despite the loss, Legacy Charter still got an impressive performance from Layni Combs, who had 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Combs is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Discovery's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Legacy Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Discovery has already played their next matchup (against Sebring), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Legacy Charter will challenge Real Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
