After a string of five wins, Overton's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. The contest between the Bobcats and the Whites Creek Cobras didn't end well, with the Bobcats falling 66-49. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cobras apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.

Overton's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Chunn, who shot 42% from the field en route to 14 points and six rebounds. William Livingston also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Malachi Benton had an outrageously good game for Whites Creek as he went 9-for-17 to rack up 25 points in addition to six boards and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Benton has scored at least a third of the Cobras' points. Eric Bryson was another key player, shooting 63% from the field on his way to 15 points.

Overton suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 5-2. As for Whites Creek, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Looking ahead, Overton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Glencliff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will be up against the Colts' rather soft defense (which has allowed 76.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Whites Creek, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against KIPP Nashville Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Cobras' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
