Flag Football Recap: Willow Canyon Comes Up Short

After flying high against Ironwood on Tuesday, Willow Canyon came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell 28-17 to the Desert Edge Scorpions on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 28-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Willow Canyon dropped their record down to 3-4 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Desert Edge, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Willow Canyon will be playing in front of their home fans against Verrado at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Wildcats 12.4, the Vipers 13.5) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Desert Edge, they will welcome Arizona College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' defense has only allowed eight points per game this season, so the Scorpions' offense will have their work cut out for them.
