Basketball Recap: Southeast of Saline Beats Smoky Valley for Their Second Straight Win

If Smoky Valley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Southeast of Saline, they should've done a better job of containing Gannon Jacobson. The Southeast of Saline Trojans took down the Smoky Valley Vikings 48-32 on Friday thanks in part to Jacobson, who went 10 of 18 on his way to 22 points along with six boards and five steals. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Smoky Valley lost, don't look at Ty Heitschmidt. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 9 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 50% of Smoky Valley's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Gengler, who earned nine points.

The victory made it two in a row for Southeast of Saline and bumps their season record up to 5-7. As for Smoky Valley, their record is now 3-8.

Southeast of Saline wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-50 win against Republic County on the 28th. As for Smoky Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-30 loss against Trinity on the 28th.
