Basketball Recap: Princeton Takes a Loss

Princeton has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Milan Wildcats. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Milan's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mya Pauley, who went 5-for-6 en route to 17 points and seven boards. Those 17 points gave Pauley a new career-high. Marian Dabney was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Princeton's defeat dropped their record down to 18-4. As for Milan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Princeton and Milan should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Princeton (ranked 120th) will meet Gallatin (ranked 338th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Milan will take on Hale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 337 places (208 vs. 545).
