Volleyball Recap: Encina's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

It was a good run, but Encina unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin Patriots by a score of 3-2. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Patriots when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Encina actually scored more points across those five sets (96-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-22, 25-19, 12-25, 15-5.

Nate Wroten paced Encina's offense, picking up 37 kills. Wroten got some help from Irvin Santos and his 26 assists. Wroten was also a major player on defense: he and he shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with three each.

Encina's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-3. As for John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Encina has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning on the 27th. As for John Adams Academy Rsvl/Lin, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Sacramento Waldorf on the 27th.
