New Deal took a 38-point defeat the last time they faced off against Abernathy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions skirted past the Antelopes 26-24. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

One reason for the win was New Deal's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Mason Rodriguez and Austin Murphy, who racked up four sacks between them.

New Deal's win bumped their record up to 4-2-1. As for Abernathy, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
