Baseball Recap: Waverly's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Waverly strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Sexton Big Reds 12-1. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Big Reds, too.

TJ Stewart looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Jackson Gomez was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Jackson Delong was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Waverly's record is now 3-0. As for Sexton, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Waverly will venture away from home to take on Ludington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Sexton, they will welcome Lansing Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
