Football Recap: Scotus Shamrocks vs. O'Neill Eagles
Scotus had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it five. They took a blow against the O'Neill Eagles, falling 37-7. If the Shamrocks were looking for revenge after losing 32-13 to the Eagles when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
When it comes to explaining why Scotus lost, don't look at Brody Lindhorst. Despite the final result, he rushed for 56 yards and one score on only five carries.
As for O'Neill, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 49.6 points this season.
O'Neill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxen Eichelberger, who rushed for 152 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and also picked up 45 receiving yards. Those 152 rushing yards gave Eichelberger a new career-high. Turner Heiss was another key player, rushing for 50 yards and a pair of TDs.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Scotus is set to challenge their familiar foe Wayne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, O'Neill will square off against rival Lakeview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Eagles 13.5, the Vikings 7.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
