Softball Game Preview: St. Francis Sharks vs. Greenfield Bruins

The St. Francis Sharks will head out on the road to square off against the Greenfield Bruins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: St. Francis has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Greenfield will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Friday, St. Francis came up short against Seaside and fell 18-13.

Meanwhile, Greenfield hadn't done well against Gonzales recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bruins walked away with a 16-13 win over the Spartans.

Greenfield let Aniah Helm and Isabella Figuora run wild. Helm went 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Figuora scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brieza Rojas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Greenfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .643. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Greenfield, their record now sits at 4-7.

St. Francis came up short against Greenfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, falling 4-1. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
