Preview: King George Foxes vs. Caroline Cavaliers
King George is 9-0 against Caroline since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The King George Foxes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Caroline Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. King George will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Friday, King George got themselves on the board against Culpeper County, but Culpeper County never followed suit. They blew past the Blue Devils 54-0 on the road. Given King George's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Culpeper County is ranked 287th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
King George haved a senior duo take command as Jack Pearson threw for 263 yards and six touchdowns and Chanz Wiggins picked up 119 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Pearson is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Caroline missed an extra point against Chancellor on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Caroline was just a hair shy of victory and fell 22-21 to Chancellor.
Caroline's loss came about despite a quality game from Vladimir Joacin, Jr. , who rushed for 219 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Malik Johnson was another key contributor, picking up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Caroline's defense still kept up the pressure with 5.5 sacks. Leading the way was Damauri Brown and his two sacks.
King George's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-0. They've been dominating across those games too: they took their wins by an average of 47 points. As for Caroline, their loss on Friday dropped their record down to 3-3.
Everything came up roses for King George against Caroline when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 49-0 win. Will King George repeat their success, or does Caroline have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
