Basketball Recap: Fullington Academy Comes Up Short

Fullington Academy and Citizens Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Fullington Academy had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 79-29 loss at the hands of the Citizens Christian Academy Patriots. The Trojans were red-hot offensively heading into the game (they scored no less than 55 points in the three contests prior), but the Patriots' defense proved too tough.

When it comes to explaining why Fullington Academy lost, don't look at Will Sangster. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. That was a full 44.8% of Fullington Academy's points, marking the third time in a row Sangster has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Fullington Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Fullington Academy moved to 14-14 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Citizens Christian Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-10.

Fullington Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Citizens Christian Academy, they have already played their next game, a 64-50 win against Thomas Jefferson Academy on the 26th.
