Basketball Recap: Iredell Gets the Win

If Kopperl wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Iredell, they should've done a better job of containing Gavin Vara. The Dragons came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 47-37 on Thursday with plenty of help from Vara, who shot 59% from the field en route to 25 points and five rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Iredell's points.

Aaron Aguilar-Diaz was another key player, putting up two points and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

The win got Iredell back to even at 3-3.

Coming up, Iredell will square off against Covington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kopperl will be paying especially close attention to the Dragons' contest: after the Dragons face off against the Owls, they'll take on Kopperl again at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
