Taravella is 9-1 against Coral Glades since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Taravella Trojans will host the Coral Glades Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. The contest will give Taravella their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
While Taravella's victory against Monarch wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Taravella came out on top in a nail-biter against Monarch on Wednesday, sneaking past 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.
Joseph Ghann made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Taravella got a great performance from John Almeida as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, Almeida gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February.
Ghann wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Morgan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Morgan has posted since back in April of 2024. JC Martinez was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coral Glades). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Stranahan a 16-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Jaguars, who have now won five matches in a row.
Like Taravella, Coral Glades also got a great game from a two-way player: Tyler Wojtynek. Throwing, Wojtynek pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Delfin Gonzalez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wojtynek has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season. At the plate, Wojtynek scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Gonzalez scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Coral Glades got a big performance out of Kaden Clark, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that Clark brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Shawn Whoriskey, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Coral Glades' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Taravella, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
Everything went Taravella's way against Coral Glades in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Taravella made off with a 14-4 win. Does Taravella have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coral Glades turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
