Softball Recap: New Oxford Colonials vs. Central York Panthers

New Oxford dropped their record down to 10-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Central York Panthers, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 last Friday.

New Oxford saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton Hostetter, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Central York, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-3. Considering they have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Central York's side, Logan Craiger was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Craiger has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. In other batting news, Ashlyn Weigle and Claire Bohannon did most of the damage at the plate: Weigle went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Bohannon went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI Bohannon has posted since back in April of 2024. Olivia Holtzman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Oxford will face off against Penn Manor at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central York, they will take on Northeastern at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
