Basketball Recap: Sterling Jets vs. Pawnee City Indians
Sterling was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pawnee City Indians. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-13 two weeks ago.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pawnee City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kinsley Benson, who posted 19 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Benson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Cara Pierce, who earned ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Sterling's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Pawnee City, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Sterling will look to defend their home court on January 23rd against Parkview Christian. As for Pawnee City, they will be taking part in a tournament against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
