East Carteret is 9-1 against Southside since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The East Carteret Mariners will head out on the road to take on the Southside Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, East Carteret turned things around against Lejeune on Wednesday. They slipped by the Devil Pups 41-40.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southside). They took down Lejeune 66-49 on Tuesday.

Southside's win came from a few key players East Carteret will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lily McLean, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 20 rebounds. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was I'Kiriyah Minor, who posted 19 points along with eight boards and five steals.

Southside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive matchups.

Southside is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for East Carteret, their win bumped their record up to 2-13.

East Carteret came up short against Southside in their previous meeting last Wednesday, falling 52-42. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McLean, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
