Softball Game Preview: Mitchell Bluejackets vs. Seymour Owls

Mitchell is 0-4 against Seymour since April of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Bluejackets will look to defend their home field against the Owls at 5:30 p.m. Mitchell has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mitchell is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Orleans. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Bluejackets who fell 7-5 when the teams previously met back in April of 2024.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Seymour and Columbus North, and Columbus North kept the tradition alive. The Owls fell just short of the Bull Dogs by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The match marked the Owls' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Seymour saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Followell, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Seymour's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Mitchell might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Seymour when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Bluejackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
