Softball Recap: Lipan Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Victory

Lipan had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the De Leon Bearcats a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lily Springstead was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Lipan got a massive performance out of Gentry Kirkland, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ryan Atkinson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Lipan lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2025.

Lipan's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for De Leon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lipan will welcome Santo at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for De Leon, they will be playing at home against Bryson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
