Baseball Recap: Gateway College Preparatory Comes Up Short

Gateway College Preparatory was the 5-0 winner over Burnet when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Gators took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Justus Franke and Andres Garza-Gongora did some serious damage despite the final result: Franke got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run, while Garza-Gongora went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Brennan Partlow was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Gateway College Preparatory's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Burnet, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-7.

While Gateway College Preparatory had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
