Softball Recap: Carondelet Takes a Loss

Carondelet lost against Granada back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars fell just short of the Matadors by a score of 3-1. The Cougars just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Maia Scholtens was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Carondelet saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Pera, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Carondelet's record now sits at 5-9. As for Granada, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Carondelet will be playing at home against Dublin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Gaels at the right time seeing as the Gaels are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Granada, they will take on Saint Francis at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Matadors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
