Baseball Recap: Chula Vista Takes a Loss

Mountain Crest hit Chula Vista with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans came up short against the Mustangs, falling 11-2. It was the first time this season that the Spartans let down their fans at home.

Chula Vista saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Chula Vista's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Mountain Crest, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Chula Vista will square off against Colfax at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mountain Crest, they will face off against San Dieguito Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mountain Crest 2.7, San Dieguito Academy 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
