Basketball Recap: Connelly School of the Holy Child Takes a Loss

Connelly School of the Holy Child lost against Georgetown Visitation Prep back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Connelly School of the Holy Child were outmatched by the Georgetown Visitation Prep Cubs and fell 47-20. While losing is never fun, Connelly School of the Holy Child can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 130th in Maryland, while Georgetown Visitation Prep is ranked 30th in District of Columbia).

Georgetown Visitation Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jocelyn Gill out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Georgetown Visitation Prep is 9-3 when Gill posts ten or more boards, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Fitzgerald, who posted eight points and five steals.

Connelly School of the Holy Child has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Georgetown Visitation Prep, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.

Connelly School of the Holy Child and Sidwell Friends will face off at 5:45 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Georgetown Visitation Prep, they and Potomac School will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Georgetown Visitation Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
