Baseball Recap: Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn Drops Highest Score of Season Against Putnam County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn). They blew past the Putnam County Panthers 18-8 on Monday. Considering the Rockets have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory (which was Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Putnam County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn is set to take on their familiar foe Seneca at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Putnam County will square off against rival Marquette at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Panthers 4, the Crusaders 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
