Volleyball Recap: Oak Grove Grizzlies vs. Kings Mountain Mountaineers
Oak Grove and Kings Mountain squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Oak Grove had to settle for second. They came up short against the Kings Mountain Mountaineers, falling 3-0. The shutout was out of character for the Grizzlies seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.
Oak Grove was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Kings Mountain work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 26-24, 25-18.
Ciara Major paced Oak Grove's offense, picking up seven kills. Major got some help from
Morgan Williams and her ten assists.
Savannah Tiller controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Kings Mountain can attribute much of their success to Ava Tipton, who had 13 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Tipton has posted since October 2nd.
With the loss, Oak Grove broke their 13-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-8. As for Kings Mountain, they pushed their record up to 27-2 with the victory, which was their 31st straight at home dating back to last season.
Oak Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kings Mountain, they will take on North Iredell on Tuesday. North Iredell will roll in looking for their 25th straight win, something Kings Mountain surely won't give up without a fight.
