Recap: Ganado Hornets vs. Zuni Thunderbirds
The Ganado Hornets's game on Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against Zuni by a score of 63-54. The win was all the more spectacular given Ganado's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 226th in Arizona, while Zuni is ranked 29th in New Mexico).
Ganado had a senior duo take command as Grant Paddock scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals and Wyatt James scored 21 points along with 5 steals. The matchup was James' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Oraias Begay, who scored 9 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
The victory got Ganado back to even at 3-3. As for Zuni, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Ganado will head out on the road to face off against Chinle at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Chinle has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 314 points over their last five matchups. As for Zuni, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ramah at 6:30 p.m. Ramah comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
