Basketball Game Preview: Dixie County Bears vs. Chiefland Indians

Dixie County and Chiefland are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Dixie County Bears will host the Chiefland Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Dixie County: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Chiefland has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Dixie County turned things around against Bell two weeks ago. They snuck past the Bulldogs with a 53-49 victory.

Meanwhile, Chiefland posted their closest win since November 18, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Oak Hall 34-31.

Chiefland's win came from a few key players Dixie County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nyasia Bivins, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last six games she's played. Brianna Bell was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Chiefland is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Dixie County, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-6.
