Petersburg was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Ralls Jackrabbits 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Buffaloes: when they faced off against the Jackrabbits last Tuesday, they had to take a 9-3 loss.

Maximus Orozco and Corbin McWilliams did most of the damage at the plate: Orozco scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while McWilliams scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Hector-David Cardona was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1.

The victory got Petersburg back to even at 1-1. As for Ralls, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-1 record.

Coming up, Petersburg will square off against Olton at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Ralls, they will face off against Sundown at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ralls' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Sundown's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
