Preview: Platte Valley Broncos vs. Wellington Eagles

Platte Valley is 1-0 against Wellington since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Platte Valley Broncos will look to defend their home field against the Wellington Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Platte Valley sitting on three straight wins and Wellington on seven.

Last Friday, Platte Valley made easy work of Bennett and carried off a 28-6 win. 28 seems to be a good number for Platte Valley as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Platte Valley can attribute much of their success to TALYN SHORT, who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. JOSH EAGLETON was in the mix as well, providing Platte Valley with two touchdowns.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Bennett to a paltry 210 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Platte Valley's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was JAYCOB CHAVARRIA-COGBURN and his two sacks.

Meanwhile, Wellington blew past D'Evelyn, posting a 46-13 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Wellington, who have now won five matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.

Wellington can attribute much of their success to Cash Altschwager, who rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and Tanner Gray, who rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Altschwager is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.

Platte Valley now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Wellington, their win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-0.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Platte Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wellington struggles in that department as they've been even better at 379.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Platte Valley took their victory against Wellington in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 28-6. Does Platte Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wellington turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
