Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Pioneers vs. Liberty Minutemen

The Heritage Pioneers are taking a road trip to challenge the Liberty Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Monday, Heritage came up short against George Washington and fell 41-28. The game marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Liberty waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victor by a 63-38 margin over the Lancers. The Minutemen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Heritage better keep an eye on Moriah Tate. She was instrumental in Liberty's win, going 10-for-14 on her way to 29 points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Tate a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cierra St. John, who posted 15 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Liberty was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Amherst County only posted three assists.

Liberty's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Heritage suffered a grim 66-45 defeat to Liberty in their previous meeting back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Heritage was down 44-22.
