Baseball Recap: Parkland Matadors vs. Bel Air Highlanders
Parkland extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-18-1 in the process. They lost 15-5 to the Bel Air Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 on Tuesday.
Ezra Dominguez-Walsh and Damien Hernadez did some serious damage despite the final result: Dominguez-Walsh went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Hernadez went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. That RBI marked the first that Dominguez-Walsh has brought in this season.
As for Bel Air, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-16-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Bel Air's side, Ruy Anzaldo made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Anzaldo has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Ryan Rodriguez was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Bel Air: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-15-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Ponce, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs.
As of now, neither Parkland nor Bel Air have any future games scheduled.
