Volleyball Recap: Addison Komitau Key Part of Team Effort in Yellowjackets Win

There's no place like home for Mt. Vernon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Zanesville Blue Devils on Thursday. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-16, 25-9.

Mt. Vernon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Addison Komitau out in front who had 16 assists and two aces. Komitau is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Callie Swanson was another key player, getting 17 assists and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Mt. Vernon was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zanesville only served three aces.

The win got Mt. Vernon back to even at 3-3. As for Zanesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mt. Vernon will challenge rival Newark Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Zanesville is set to square off against their familiar foe Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
