Softball Recap: Springfield Catholic Takes a Loss

Springfield Catholic suffered their closest loss since March 24th on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Fair Grove Eagles by a score of 5-3. The Fighting Irish were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Springfield Catholic's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5. As for Fair Grove, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield Catholic will take on Buffalo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Fair Grove, they will square off against Mt. Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mountaineers have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
