Basketball Recap: Wheeler Comes Up Short

Wheeler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 43-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rocky Hill Country Day Mariners. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 61-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

It was another big night for Lily Sokol, who almost dropped a triple-double on 23 points, 16 boards, and nine blocks for Rocky Hill Country Day. The dominant performance gave Sokol a new career-high in blocks. Izabella Macari was another key player, going 6 for 7 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Rocky Hill Country Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season.

Wheeler will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mount St. Charles Academy at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. Rocky Hill Country Day has already played their next game (against St. Thomas More), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
