Meyersdale extends home losing streak to 12

Recap: Meyersdale Red Raiders vs. Salisbury Elk Lick Elks

The Meyersdale Red Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 43-25 to Salisbury Elk Lick. Meyersdale has not had much luck with Salisbury Elk Lick recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Meyersdale saw an underclassman step up: Matthew Hainsworth scored three points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him.

Salisbury Elk Lick found their leader in underclassman Lance Jones, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The game was Jones' 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Sellers, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks.

Meyersdale bumped their record down to 1-12 with that loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Salisbury Elk Lick, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meyersdale will face off against North Star at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. North Star is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.6 points per game. Salisbury Elk Lick and Ferndale will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Ferndale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
