Softball Recap: Orange Takes a Loss

If Orange was feeling good fresh off their 19-11 takedown of La Quinta last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Orange fell 7-3 to the Santa Ana Valley Falcons on Wednesday. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in February of 2022.

Scarlett Poitra was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Poitra wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was LeAnn Velasquez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Orange's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Santa Ana Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Orange will face off against rival Loara at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Santa Ana Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe La Quinta at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
